SEnior mechanical Engineer

Allen and Shariff Engineering, LLC.

Allen & Shariff is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer for our Pittsburgh, PA office. The Senior Engineer works independently on various projects as assigned by a Project Manager or more senior leader. He/she may oversee the entire design process or assist as a technical expert on a specialized design. The Senior Engineer will work on several concurrent projects. The Senior Engineer has gained extensive experience in all areas of mechanical design and is a recognized expert in his/her discipline.

The essential functions of the Senior Engineer are as follows:

  • Performs design work in AutoCAD and Autodesk Revit software.

  • Assesses the requirements of a project, breaks a project into tasks, and works with a Project Manager to determine scope of work, budget and staffing.

  • Writes scope of work for mechanical design based on preliminary review and meetings with the client.

  • Prepares engineering studies and schematic design for new systems and analyzes operation of existing systems.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of applicable building codes. Works with code officials and other design professionals when an interpretation or exception to building codes is required.

  • Assigns and reviews work of project design team. Checks progress of work and alerts Project Manager to change of scope or additional services.

  • Reviews contractor application for payments. Has a thorough understanding of construction process.

  • Coordinates all aspects of project document completion within ASE and externally with clients and other design professionals.

  • Possesses proficient written and oral communications skills.

  • Prepares or reviews construction budgets based on experience and scope of project.

  • Promotes use of and participates in development of company design and production standards.

  • Assists in the education and development of design staff and acts as resource for design questions.

  • Maintains neat and organized work area which allows efficient access to project information required by other team members.

mechanical Engineer/ mechanical designer

Allen and Shariff Engineering, LLC.

The Mechanical Engineer/Designer is responsible for the preparation of contract plans and specifications, often for several projects simultaneously. This encompasses advanced calculations, systems analysis, quality control of finished projects, and field/construction coordination activities. The Engineer reports to the Senior Vice President and/or Office Management.

The essential functions of the Engineer are as follows:

  • Performs design work in AutoCAD and Autodesk Revit software.

  • Writes specifications and ensures coordination of their preparation with other disciplines.

  • Represents ASC with clients at design meetings as assigned.

  • Assists with preparation of project fee cost estimates.

  • Contacts utility authorities for confirmation of availability, coordination of service entry points, and confirming facilities required for obtaining service from the utility.

  • Consults with local regulatory agencies for conformance of design standards.

  • Coordinates project scheduling with Project Managers.

  • Completes details and advanced calculations.

  • Conducts system analysis and comparisons with regard to economical and functional considerations.

  • Ensures coordination and review of shop drawings and field problem solutions, including preparing field reports and coordination of all elements.

  • Is actively involved in professional and trade associations and societies

AE Works Ltd. is looking for a full-time Mechanical (HVAC) Engineer – PE for our Pittsburgh, PA office headquarters. This position requires confidence, independent action, initiative, a sense of urgency, and the ability to make decisions and take responsibility for them. A well-suited candidate can react and adjust quickly to changing conditions and come up with practical ideas for dealing with them. The style is purposeful, directed at getting things done quickly. There is a great deal of challenge and pressure, and people and problems must be handled with confidence and determination. The position requires a self-disciplined person who can handle details as long as they are only an intermittent aspect of the job, and not the primary responsibility. Role and Responsibilities 

· Design and construction administration of HVAC systems for building projects, both new construction and renovation, within various market segments                · Produce high quality deliverables for clients at all stages of design                    · Travel with team members for onsite collaboration, investigations, and project presentations                                             · Attend interviews for new work opportunities and participate as needed                                                    

· Champion engineering design relevance within the firm through mentorship and training                            · Participate in corporate activities including Social and Eco projects to support and develop the Triple Bottom Line business model and enhance our B Corp status
